Scan to Point Cloud

The accuracy of a survey is ever advancing, and a point cloud survey leads the way. All physical objects have numerous data information points which can be measured.  Through use of advanced scanning and photogrammetry technology, it is possible to map out each of these data points through the reflection of light and colour variations and establish the X, Y and Z co-ordinates.

Our surveyors use of state-of-the-art Faro scanners and survey grade drones to capture data of the required site, property or structure. After ‘cleaning’ the data to remove foreign objects (such as people or cars) scans and or images are linked with high accuracy to deliver a Point Cloud. The Point Cloud is an accurate 3D representation of the surveyed object and represents just how it stands when captured, making a great resource for condition reviews or as the foundation of a 3D model once drawn up in specialist software.

With advances in technology the speed of surveys have increased and so has accuracy. Not only this but with reduced risks brought by both drones and scanners make our point cloud surveys a great option for safety conscious clients looking for a cost efficient option.

Virtuscan are innovative users of new cloud-based technology and we can deliver a platform that allows interrogation of a point cloud including taking measurements of distances and volumes. Additional annotation can also be added and shared amongst a team allowing true visualisation of a project site.
