Gunite were appointed by project engineers Carter Clack to undertake reinforcement of the calcium silicate brickwork in the stairwells on all three blocks to ensure these areas were strong enough to take the weight of the external over-cladding system and render as well as carrying out concrete and brickwork repairs.

Gunite used a total of 15,000m of Helibar and 23,000 ResiTies in the six stairwells, which at the time was one of the biggest Helifix projects undertaken. This was all carried out with minimum disruption to the buildings fabric or to the residents, who remained in their homes throughout. Once this structural strengthening had been completed we could then carry out the concrete and brickwork repairs to allow the project to be completed.
