One of the UK’s largest universities has commissioned our passive fire protection business, Gunfire Limited, to work across more than 50 teaching and residential buildings, throughout the capital.
University College London, which was founded in 1826, owns and operates more than 50 buildings of various ages.
Our latest contract win will see Gunfire retrospectively install fire stopping technology to over 30 residences, as well as teaching and administrative buildings.
Speaking about the appointment, which is believed to be one of the most wide ranging fire stopping contracts in the higher education sector, James Reid, our passive fire safety expert at Gunfire, said:
“University College London has a combined student and staff population of more than 40,000. They have identified that they have a duty of care in keeping people safe and are continuing to lead the way in terms of staff and student safety in higher education.” “The huge variety of buildings, ages and uses presents its own challenges, and is allowing us to demonstrate a tailored approach to fire safety that we’ve become known for.”Simon Cooke, fire safety manager at University College London, said:
“Gunfire provided a competitive pitch that included a detailed response to the specific requirement of our fire Risk Assessment. As one of the UK’s top ten largest universities by student population size we take the welfare of staff and students extremely seriously. This latest development will see us upgrade fire safety protection across the estate and we’re looking forward to working with Gunfire on similar projects in the future.”
