Key Role of External Coatings in Social Housing Refurbishment
There was great excitement in the Gunite Group office today when we viewed the latest issue of Housebuilder & Developer. An article we contributed to alongside Flexcrete Technologies Ltd appeared talking about the importance of specification for external coatings in social housing refurbishment.
The article, which talks about the effect of carbonation on concrete buildings, damp prevention and the importance of allowing the wall to breathe, features four case studies of projects we have worked on with Flexcrete. These included the Grade II-listed Byker Wall in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the large scale refurbishment currently being undertaken on a major PFI housing project in Leeds, five tower blocks on the Cockhill Estate, Birmingham and then further south the residential housing complex Jeremy's Green in North London. We have carried out external coatings work on all these projects as part of a larger contract. We are proud of our extensive work in social housing refurbishment and were delighted to be asked to contribute. To read the full article turn to page 40 of the latest Housebuilder and Developer.
